We got some sad news last night. A family friend died unexpectedly yesterday. Some of you may remember that when my dad and stepmom were here in Maine this past summer we had a 25th anniversary party for them. Pat was the friend who graciously offered her home for the party. She and her husband also opened up their home again to my dad and stepmom for a few more weeks when Dad couldn't fly home as planned. Pat and her husband were good friends with my parents for many, many years. They even own a winter home in the town in Florida where my dad and stepmom live in addition to their home here in Maine. She will be missed. This holiday season has been one of loss, unfortunately. My sister-in-law lost her grandmother the weekend before Christmas, a friend of mine lost her dad on Christmas night, and now Pat on New Year's Day.
I guess I'm telling you all this because I could use some cyberhugs.
But on to today's photo. I still haven't had much time to play with my new fisheye lens, but as I walked through the school parking lot the other day to go to my DD's basketball game, I thought this VW Bug was just begging to be captured in fisheye. It's also amazingly shiny and clean for Maine in late December.

Becky, I am so sorry for all the loss that you and those close to you have felt this past few weeks.
Yes, that bug is the perfect thing to distort for sure!
Oh, Becky, I'm sending mountains of cyberhugs your way. I'm so sorry that you're having such sad losses, and Pat was such a wonderful friend during that time when your Dad was having such serious problems. And hugs to you in the days to come as you continue to say goodbye to your friend.
Your photo LOOKS like a bright spot in a bleak terrain. I hope more bright spots come your way soon. And you're going to enable me right into a fisheye this year, aren't you?
Becky, sending massive enveloping hugs your way. Sudden unexpected deaths are always so hard. It sounds like Pat was a wonderful person, and I know your life is the better for having known her.
