A couple more of my nephew that I hadn't posted.

The Green Monstah

My friend got tickets on the Green Monster (left field wall) at Fenway Park for the Red Sox game last night and brought my husband and me along. Even though the Sox lost, we got drenched and the game was shortened by rain, and there was an obnoxious Yankees fan in front of me who I REALLY wanted to punch, we had a blast! I loved it up there.

Hydrangea

I love hydrangeas, yet another plant I should have in my yard but don't. I stopped in to a cemetery to get this photo. I used Tori's textures again.

Football, American and European style

I've got football and soccer photos coming out the wazoo. That's my Delaney, #5 in red. Her team just had their first loss of the season after starting out 5-0.
And my Cameron, #42 in the navy blue jersey. His team is 0-4, and he took a big hit last night and injured his tailbone. We're going to get it looked at in the morning and are hoping it's not broken.

Sunrise

When I woke up the other morning the sky looked pretty cool and the world had a pretty pink tint. This is straight out of camera.

It IS nifty

Over on the 2Peas photography board, there are lots and lots of people using a Knifty Knitter to make hats and other newborn props. Since I know how to knit the traditional way, I mostly ignored all those posts about the Knifty Knitter. But the other day I was in the craft store and decided to buy the baby hat-sized loom and see how I liked it. It really IS nifty!

Baby hats are a great way to use up partial skeins of yarn (okay, I actually bought the blue/purple/green yarn seen below because "ooh, pretty!")
I made these four in a day while sitting at the computer editing photos.
I've completed two more since I took these photos this morning. I have two more nieces/nephews due in 2010, and I'm looking forward to plopping these on their heads.

It's that time of year again.

Pineapple macros

I bought a pineapple wedger thingy from Pampered Chef recently, so we've been eating a lot of fresh pineapple. A whole pineapple disappears in about five minutes around here.
I called these pineapple macros, but now that I think about it, I think I used my 24-70mm lens rather than my macro.

Maine Black Bear

Darn that harsh midday sun, but you try getting a bear to move into the shade.

Little Man

Some very imperfect photos of my very perfect nephew enjoying his peanut butter sandwich.

I like turtles

Of course posting this photo reminds me of one of my favorite You Tubes:

Meow

A couple of more shots from the Maine Wildlife Park.

Without anything to show scale, this could almost be any kitty in a wire carrier, couldn't it? It's really a bobcat, though.
A different hawk, this one with a bum wing. (That's what the wildlife park is for, injured animals.) He was harder to shoot because he was behind a wire cage.

I couldn't resist posting a couple more photos of the groundhog.

Bag o' footballs

I took too many photos at Cam's first football game. It's taking me forever to go through them.

Not a Black Groundhog

So I have that thingie over there on the right side of my blog that tells me where people visit from and what they searched for to end up here on Scenes from ME, and what gets the most hits is a photo I posted last summer of a black groundhog. Who knew so many people were interested in black groundhogs?

This (not black) groundhog lives at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. That little spot of dirt on his nose about kills me. As my husband's Grammie would say, "Ain't that cunnin'."

Hawkeye and Fireweed

Another hawk photo, because I think he's cute.

And a shot of my dining room, which my husband painted over Labor Day weekend. He's awesome. The color is Fireweed by Sherwin Williams.

Hootie

An owl who lives at the Maine Wildlife Park. I think it's a barred owl. I had to shoot through two fences and try to blur out the chicken wire fence for this shot.

Book Club

I love to read more than just about anything, and for a while now I've thought being in a book club would be fun. Recently one of my friends suggested starting one, and I jumped all over the chance. These are our first four books. We've already read and discussed Still Alice and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. This month is The Help, and The Story of Edgar Sawtelle will be next month. My friends in book club are some of my favorite people in the world; they're so smart and funny. We all live in the same town and have daughters who are friends. We decided to name our book club the (Our town name) Literary and Black Fly Society. The other thing I love about book club is that I can make endless Fight Club/Book Club references like "what happens at book club stays at book club." Hooray for book club!

New Football Season

Today was the first football game of the season for Cam. That's him carrying the ball. (We won't discuss the score.)

Fuzzy Caterpillar

When I Googled this caterpillar to find out what kind he is, I was surprised to learn what a nondescript brown moth he's going to turn out to be (a lophocampa maculata, or spotted tussock moth, if you want to Google a photo). He's kind of flamboyant as a larva, isn't he?

Maine Wildlife Park Hawk

I took myself on a field trip to the Maine Wildlife Park today. This guy was watching me like a, well, you know...

I Think I Can...

You can do it, caterpillar!
