Ice storm

Well, we had the ice storm but kept power and even satellite internet and TV, so woohoo! My friends a mile on each side of me are without power, though, so we're offering our showers, heat, and light. Here are a few shots from today. Excuse the lack of white balance consistency.

Back yard. Ice storms are tough on white birch trees:
Street view:
You can see how thick the ice was. It warmed up quickly today, though, and you can see where it has started to melt and will fall off the branch soon:
As it warmed up shards of ice would come falling down from the trees, sounding like breaking glass:

Oh, thanks for these!! I know it is miserable, but I love what an ice storm does. Is there any wind--everything sounds like wind chimes. I REALLY like the shot of the ice shards. Glad you have heat and power; I was wondering!!

Becki-glad to see you are all safe and sound-the pictures are amazing stuff!!! We got ice up here in Caribou too but not near as bad as this-heck our kids still went to school yesterday-they were bummed but hey one less day to make up in the spring.

Wow I thought of you when I was watching the news glad you are all okay and still have electric. Everywhere I have been and traveled and seen I have never seen an ice storm now of course you know when I do see one it will make history right.
