Ripley's Believe It or Not--New York City Day 2

DD and I got our heads pickled at the Ripley's Believe It or Not Odditorium:
DD also lost her bottom half (some of you Facebookers have already seen this one):
NYC is full of amazing art museums, but my kids turned their noses up at them and loved this place instead. It is pretty fun--there are lots of torture devices and shrunken heads.

I liked this display, because I've been morbidly fascinated with Chinese foot binding ever since I read "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan":

This is a ship carved out of camel bones:
A little detail:
I took photos of these statues so I can pretend I was in an exotic foreign country (Who am I kidding? To me New York IS an exotic foreign country):
This one reminds me of the World's Ugliest Dog we see every year. I think it's the mouth:
In case you haven't had any luck googling this:

It is extremly helpful to know how to shrink a head. Seriously.

These are so awesome! If I didn't read that you went to NYC, I would have thought you were in a separate country. I went to Portland this weekend...does that count? There are some really weird people there.

Such an amazing variety of fun stuff. I'm so glad to finally have concise, easy-to-understand directions about how to shrink heads. ;)

What fun - love your shots! The kid in me would like this stop as well. (haven't been to a Ripley's Believe it or Not in years!)

I LOVE Ripley's! We went to the one in Panama City a couple of years ago, it was SO much fun. Kaitlyn loved the "unicorn" (the goat with one horn). ;) I am so glad I now know how to shrink a head... that will be a very useful party trick, LOL!

Wow, that's amazing...in a creepy way. I "think" I've been there before, but I certainly don't remember this stuff, maybe I'll have to go back now.

These are way too cool, I think I need to go there. Have you tested the head recipe though, I think I need step by step pictures a la Pioneer Woman.

ROTFL! So that's what I forgot in the recipe. . . "plug the nose!"

We go to tons of museums, but have never been to a Ripley's. I'm going to take my girls, I'm sure SF must have one and they'll love it. These are fun shots! I'm also fascinated with the feet binding, ever since reading Peony in Love. :)
