A photo (or more) a day from me/from Maine. Because it's both. I took the photo, and I'm in Maine. Although sometimes I leave the state, so the photo might not be from Maine. But it's still from me.

No flash
I'm not posting a flower today. I'm posting a DEAD flower.
Canon 40D with 100mm macro lens ISO400 F5.6 SS1/250 No flash
Dead seems so harsh--how about one that has finished blooming for the season? LOL! Love the BW with this subject; works really well. And--the lighting on yesterday's caterpillar is perfect! Really shows up all those hairs, or whatever they are.
Who killed the flower????? I really like how you photographed this, how stark the background looks, and the contrast of the poor, dead flower against the background.

Becky, that is just the perfect shot for b/w! Great shot! My flower today is just about had it too, it's dying a slow death! :)
It's amazing how the right photographer can make dead look GOOD. Great shot and conversion!
That is so lovely actually. I think the detail is so amazing. Your conversion makes the detail come out even more.
That's so cool!

Striking! I'd like to see this one done with the high pass filter I talked about on my blog yesterday. I love all the little straggly parts.
That's an awesome shot
