A photo (or more) a day from me/from Maine. Because it's both. I took the photo, and I'm in Maine. Although sometimes I leave the state, so the photo might not be from Maine. But it's still from me.

Soda cans wobble...
...but they don't fall down. I had no idea you could balance a soda can like this until DS did it the other day. Apparently if you leave a little liquid in it, you can do this little trick. (I was unable to replicate the effect. ) No camera tilting was employed in the taking of this photograph.
Settings: DRebel XT w/ 24-70mm L lens in manual mode (I dared to try!) at 54 mm SS1/100 F2.8 ISO 800
And in an effort to post a photo actually taken today, even if it's sucky, the following picture. Settings: same lens at 32mm AV mode F2.8 SS 1/6 ISO 400 w/ +2.3 exposure compensation. No camera tilting here either. Baxter likes to lie on the back of the couch with his head hanging off the side, and I lay down on the floor underneath him to get this shot.
And a couple of cropped/burning edges tries on my football photo. I think in the second one the burning looks weird on the top because the sky wasn't uniformly dark to begin with from the light shining on the left-hand side. What do you think of these?

DH wasn't really trying to sabotage me with the goodies yesterday. They were for a client lunch that got canceled so he brought them home for the kids. I just had to accuse him of abuse, because isn't complaining about your husband on the internet the #1 way to strengthen your marriage? :-D

Spousal abuse
Look what DH brought home. So cruel --I'm doing Weight Watchers for crying out loud!
But he also brought this home. Thanks, honey!
I ate lots of the salad (excuse my breath from all those onions) and none of the goodies--yet.
And DS makes a rare blog appearance. Kids still eat icicles even when they're 14:
It was starting to get dark out and the light was bad, so I tried a couple of actions on it:

I also had a cool photo of DD doing a somersault in the snow, but she said she didn't want me to post it because "it's a picture of my butt, Mom!" It's not, it's a full body shot, although the snowpant-clad rear end is visible, but whatever.
Thanks for your comments yesterday, everyone. I was very interested to hear what you had to say about the football pictures. I had gotten some good feedback on them, but that was from family and friends, so I wanted to know what my POTD photography-buff homies thought. I'm giving your suggestions about cropping and burning a try and will post my results. Thanks again!

Aperture again...and it's snowing again
Yet another snowstorm today. I'm not thrilled with either of these shots, but I like the first one better because you can see the snowflakes in the air. First one is F2.8, second is F11 (where my shaky hands came into play again since the focus is bad).
So those were my photos taken today, but what I'd really love is your honest, unbridled, HHCC opinion on these shots:

Thank you so much!

Aperture
Boring, huh? But they're little things that have meaning to me. The "egg" was my Nana's (I guess it was used for darning socks), and the rock is from the spot in Acadia National Park where DH proposed. I snagged it when we went back to the spot for our 15th anniversary. Please don't tell the National Park Service. I don't want to go to jail. I promise it's the only thing I've ever taken, and I always stay on marked trails and don't disturb the animals or natural plants. :-) I put these things in the same photograph only because they sit in the same cubby in my computer desk and because their colors are complementary--and I wanted to demonstrate aperture.
Shot with 100mm macro lens in AV mode at ISO 400. This one was F22:
And this one was F2.8:
And I have to post a slightly less boring photo. A winter wonderland shot from today's snowstorm.
