Yet another reminder that my kids keep growing up despite all my wishes to the contrary. DD got her first Valentine flowers from a boy. I was already about to turn into a puddle of tears when she told me how it came to be white roses. The boy had asked her what her favorite flowers were and she told him white roses. I asked her why white roses, and she said, "Because of you and Dad."
She was referring to the story of how her dad and I met. We were in college, and my sorority was having a winter semi-formal, and it was called a "trust your sister date party." Anyone who was interested put their name in a hat, and whoever pulled your name out of the hat found you a date. My DH turned out to be my date. A couple of days before the dance, he sent me a white rose with a note that said he was looking forward to meeting me. It was the beginning of my falling in love, and I still have the card.
Look at that. I can take a sweet milestone story about my DD and still make it all about me. :-D

Aw sweet story, and super sweet that white roses are your DD's fav b/c of her parents. They are beautiful.
What a wonderful, wonderful, sweet story! I love how the two of you met, and how your daughter so clearly appreciates it!
Awe....
That softness of the rose is beautiful and your macros from the last couple of days are so great!
great story! I really like the compostion!
What a lovely way to pass on your stry to your children and a beautiful rose! great job!
What a sweet story, and even nicer that your daughter has taken it to heart!
Who would have thought you would end up married to the person who's name was randomly drawn out of a hat. VERY COOL.
I always LOL at your sense of humor, ie "turning DD's milestone into a Becky story." He sounds like a good kid and very thoughtful!
Now we need a photo of that card! Seriously how romantic that you still have it and what a neat story of how y'all fell in love! Great pic!
Oh my word! That is so amazing Becky. What a GREAT story. I can't believe she got flowers...that is such a nice thing. I honestly have NEVER seen a tea rose before. Is that weird (well it is because my parents owned a nursery greenhouse business for 15 years! LOL)
I love your story and congrats to your DD! I am so jealous.
Such a sweet story Becky - I get why your daughter wanted white roses!!
Thanks for sharing:) Love the white rose!

Awww Becky this just made me tear up! I am a sucker for a love story and that was the best. I love that your daughter wanted white roses because of that.
And yes I already knew I wanted to marry James by that point. I think I kinda knew the first conversation...see I can take a blog comment about your blog and make it about me lol ;)
What a sweet story and how cute that your daughter remembers it and asked for a white rose! :)
p.s. I do remember...juicy pear is your favorite flavor of Jelly Belly. :)
Beautiful photo and story. So sweet.
