The Dance

I know I've mentioned about a million times how happy I am that my dad and stepmom are here for a visit. Here's a photo of the two of them together on Saturday, when we had a party to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. I've been blessed to have a wonderful "bonus mom" for all these years. She is an amazingly strong woman who has gotten us all through some tough times, especially in the last few years as they've coped with my dad's various health problems. Watching them dance together the other day made me cry like a baby, not just because that romantic stuff gets to me but because last year Dad had a long, difficult recovery from back surgery and we weren't sure he'd walk again, so seeing him be able to dance with his beautiful bride was all the more emotional for me.

    What a sweet photo, and such wonderful journaling; this really choked me up. You dad looks like he has such a heart-felt smile, and they seem perfectly at home with each other. I also want to thank you, Becky, for asking about Dianna. She's still having a hard time; she on campus, in summer school, but it's painful for her to see all the reminders of her friend. She such a wise little girl, though; she knows it's better for her to go through it than run from it. Her friend was a passionate lover of plants, had her dorm room filled with them, and her friends planted a little memorial garden on campus for her.My photos yesterday of Dianna meant a lot to me, because it's so nice to see her smile again!

    That is lovely! I think it is neat that you call her a "bonus mom" It sounds so fun! :) Makes me want a bonus mom! I'm glad to see your dad up and dancing too!
