Shaker Village. I drove by again yesterday on the way home from a ball game and stopped to take a few photos. This is a photo of their graveyard. It's a fenced area without individual grave markers, just this one marker in the middle. It's a great example of the Shaker way of life. I'm not thrilled with this photo. I was rapidly losing the light. I think it's a really cool subject nonetheless.

Oh cool, where is that located? I might have to track that down on one of my trips...
ReplyDeleteSo those 10 people make all the furniture? ;)
ReplyDeleteI like your photo.
Very nice conversion here. Looks like you did a great job even though you were losing the light.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I love your conversion... it feels almost eerie. :)
ReplyDeleteOh cool thanks for the link...
ReplyDeleteLovin it!
ReplyDeleteI like the moodiness kind of feeling it gives out. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteBecky this is cool--simple, plain, unadorned; just like the Shakers themselves. Nice moody shot.
ReplyDeleteWow, it's a great conversion. Very interesting history you gave us.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very cool conversion to this photo, really fits the mood.
ReplyDeletePIc is great.
ReplyDeleteI remember them coming to school once way back when and wanted to find more people to be apart of there way of life. It will be sad to see it go when the last few do pass on and there way of life is not picked up by someone else. I use to go by there lots too when I lived in Oxford hills.
Yeah, it is sort of eerie feeling. I think your conversion really works and draws my into the gravestone.
ReplyDeleteLove the feel of this picture.
ReplyDeleteI think that is really awesome. The trees and the darkness give it kind of a spooky effect. Its neat to know that they don't have any markers too. That is really interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think you did beautiful with no much light! Must be an awesome place to visit!
ReplyDeleteI like the photo. I think it looks neat and wouldn't be the same if you weren't losing light.
