Nuthatch

Another nuthatch, a red-breasted one. The last nuthatch photo was a white-breasted one. (The red-breasted nuthatch has the stripe across the eye that the white-breasted one doesn't.) If I saw a brown-headed one my nuthatch trinity would be complete, but they don't hang out this far north.

Laugh-At-Yourself Day

I've just declared it laugh-at-yourself day here at ScenesfromME. In honor of that, here's me in fisheye:

And what I look like in the morning when I go to bed with wet hair. (Some of you on Facebook have already seen this lovely.)
It sure explains why my Dad called me Medusa when I was little.

Another little friend

This little chipmunk lives in my rock wall.

I was far away so the photo isn't so great. I like this one I got back in 2007 better:

More weeds

I used Jess's warm honey action and Coffeeshop's Honey Retro on this shot.

More of the duck

The friendly mallard again.

The above shot and my duck feet shot from a couple of days ago were both cropped from this original, unedited photo:

As you can see, I was close, but not THAT close. Although ducks that are fed by humans will let you get incredibly close to them. I've hand-fed ducks that tried to eat my engagement ring right off my finger.

Ruminant

I don't know if this is a llama or an alpaca, so you'll see I used a word that both animals are to title this post. (I learned it from a crossword puzzle. It's a mammal who is a cud chewer.) I know llamas are a little bigger than alpacas, but I shot this from my car with my 70-300 lens zoomed out to 300, so I'm not sure of his/her size. Also, llamas are mean and alpacas are nice. Since I didn't get out of the car to talk to him/her, I didn't get a sense of his/her personality so I still don't know what he/she is.

Web-footed friends

My husband thinks ducks are creepy. I think he's crazy. I love ducks. I even had pet ducks when I was growing up. Geese, on the other hand, are just plain evil.
