Nuthatch

I misspoke when I first titled this post--this is not a titmouse; it's a nuthatch.

It feels like spring is finally on its way when my feathered friends start to return.

And a little brag (but not about this photo because it sucks). My DD won the 440 at her indoor track conference championship. Here she is crossing the finish line. She also came in 2nd in shot put.

Sap bucket

It's maple syrup season here in Maine. This is a sap bucket on a maple tree.

Goose

I know the whites are blown, but I liked the way the light from the open barn door created the shadowing.

Little Piggies

We visited a farm with a barn full of animals for Maine Maple Sunday, and the pigs were so cute! I love the spot on the middle pig's ear and the way her toes look like she's wearing nail polish. And look at that pig on the right sticking its nose up--so stinkin' cute! I wish I had gotten more of the pigs on the left into the frame, but it was really crowded in there. I was so enamored I practically could have kissed them.
But they were interested in kissing this guy:
Climbing up the side of their pen to see people--it reminded me of puppies! I've never seen such friendly pigs! I also had never noticed before how human-like their eyes are.

Vanity plates

We were driving up the interstate on our way to DD's basketball game yesterday when I said, "Does that license plate say what I think it says?"

Yes, it did.
Ha!

I love when I get a decent shot in an indoor gym. DD boxing out:

Sign of spring

The only sign of spring around here is this bunch of daffodils at Walmart. Taken in stealth mode with my point-and-shoot since I read about people being told not to take photos at Walmart. :-)

Lemons, again

Do the whites look blue? They look okay on my calibrated monitor, then I looked at this on a laptop and the whites look really blue.

Booze and Bangs

Did you spend your St. Patrick's Day doing anything interesting? I didn't get my drink on with this Guinness; I used it in the Irish stew I made for dinner.
My daughter decided to get bangs. She looks cute if I do say so myself.

Bouquet with blue texture

My favorite textures to use on photos are the free ones by Ghostbones. His account disappeared from Flickr a while ago, but I found where someone else was hosting them.

Me as a 4-year-old

A portrait done by a friend of my parents when I was four years old. I recently dug it out, and I was struck by two things about my 4-year-old self: 1. It's not just family legend that I took forever to grow hair (and my brothers cut it off playing barber when I finally did). My hair looks more like a 1-year-old's here, baby mullet and all. 2. I had a double chin even way back then.

Normal lemon

I feel like this shot needs something to punch it up, but I don't know what. I played with it for a while but couldn't come up with anything I liked.

My attempt at coloring a lemon using the tutorial our POTD buddy Diana Liz shared.

Green Pepper

A few months back I saw a photo of a back-lit green pepper that was really cool and wanted to try to duplicate it. For the life of me I can't find the photo now.

Pink orchid

Orchids were only $15 at Walmart, so I finally got one. I'd love to get a photo even 1/10 as good as one of Lauren's. She's my orchid photo idol! Here's my try.

Banana Nut Cheerios

Banana Nut Cheerios. I give them two thumbs up.

I'm feeling a little embarrassed about showing you all my purses yesterday. But the first step is admitting you have a problem, right? To answer a few questions: Tori, that green and navy print is retired, but just recently, so there are still some in the stores (and some even at a discount). I've even found some retired stuff at TJMaxx. Mandy, the bags wash beautifully. And Pat, yes, I am a bag lady. :-)

A few of my favorite things

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I like Vera Bradley bags. With this week's theme being favorite things, it seemed like a good time to gather them all together for a photo.

These are mine. Silly, huh? The one I'm using the most right now is the green and navy tote in the back row.
I've got totes, purses in different sizes and styles, a wristlet, wallets, a checkbook cover, a coin purses, and even a couple of small totes I asked my SIL to sew for me out of place mats.

It seems pretty indulgent (and they're so loud!) to have so many when I put them all together like this. Most of them were gifts or bought at a discount when they 'retired' though, and even at full price they're cheaper than a Coach bag. (I am so good at rationalization.)
